Who Can Claim Partner Skills Points – Get Details From Migration Agency In Sydney

The government introduced a new points test system for skilled visas  On 16 November 2019.  In brief, the new point test allows applicantsdepending on the partner’s age, educational qualification/occupation and English language skills to claim an additional 5 – 10 points.  to boost your overall Australia Immigration point score Partner Skills is an added advantage.   If your partner is able to satisfy the simple requirements related to age, educational qualification, English Language requirement You may claim ‘partner skills’ points and most importantly, as a primary applicant for which your partner has obtained a suitable skill assessment done and  has nominated an occupation on the same Australian skilled occupational demand list. Additionally,they have the recent work experience in their nominated occupation or they must meet the Australian study requirement as the primary applicant.  

Partner with relevant skill , age and English – 10 points

Your partner must have  for their nominated skilled occupation a suitable skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority. Competent English (IELTS 6 or equivalent) at the time the invitation to apply for the visa is issued Your partner must be under 45 years old

There are three lists; ROL, ‘short term’ and ‘medium to long term – Your partner’s occupation must be an eligible occupation

• For Subclass 190 spouse's occupation can be on either ‘short term’ or ‘medium to long term’.
• For Subclass 491 family stream or  spouses or Subclass 189 spouses occupation must be on ‘medium to long term’ only  
• the occupation can be on any list For SC 491 (state sponsored) spouses,

 Example of claiming 10 points:

• You are applying for a partner’s occupation is on the 190 Visa, Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) and 189 Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL),
• Your partner would contribute 10 skills points for 491 State Sponsored stream and 190 visa but You partner cannot contribute points for skills for 189 and 491 Family Stream.   
• You are applying for the partner’s occupation and 189 Visa (MLTSSL)is also on the 189 Visa List (MLTSSL).
• You would be able to claim 10 points for partner skills, In this scenario.An example of this would be that  your partner is a Chef which is also on the MLTSSL and  you are a Biomedical Engineer which is on the MLTSSL     
• To obtain a skill assessment your partner would need to apply to the relevant assessing authority

You can claim 10 points for partner's skill:

• Applying for a 190 visa:  10 points for partner skills –  partner is an accountant (MLTSSL) and PA (principal applicant) is on the 190 list (ICT project manager)    
• Applying for a 190 visa:  : 0 points for partner skills for PA and Regional for partner – partner is on the ROL list (real estate representative) or STSOL and PA is on the 190 list (ICT project manager) 
• Applying for a 189 visa:  0 points for partner skills –  partner is ICT project manager (STSOL) and PA is an accountant (MLTSSL) and :
• Applying for 491 visa:  10 points for partner skills –  partner is a real estate representative (ROL) and PA is a real estate representative (ROL)  

5 Points for partner's English:

• PTE – At least 50 for each 4 components
• Cambridge C1 Advanced test – At least 169 in each of the 4 components
• IELTS – At least 6 for each 4 components
• TOEFL iBT – At least 12 for listening, 21 for writing, 13 for reading and 18 for speaking
• OET – At least B for each of the 4 components

Single or partner is an Australian citizen or permanent resident point eligibility
