How the NSW 491 Skills List Works in Practice

Ensure your nominated occupation appears on the NSW 491 Skills List and that you hold a valid skills assessment for it.
✅ Step 2: Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI)
Submit your EOI in SkillSelect under Subclass 491 and select New South Wales as your preferred state. You must indicate interest in regional NSW nomination.
✅ Step 3: Regional Selection and Invitation
Regional Development Australia (RDA) offices assess EOIs and select candidates who best meet their local labour needs. Selected candidates are then invited to apply for NSW 491 nomination.
✅ Step 4: Apply for NSW Nomination
If invited, you must submit supporting documents to verify your eligibility — including skills assessment, points evidence, and employment or residence documents if required.
