The government launched on 4 November 2019 the Global Talent-Independent Program (GTI). The program is designed to provide a streamlined and priority visa pathway to migrate to Australia permanently for highly skilled and talented individuals. For Australia’s Information and Communication (ICT) sector Australian Computer Society (ACS) is the peak professional association. ACS is for Global Talent candidates a recognized nominating Australian organization.
Having a nominator is Part of the requirements of the visa who will endorse them as a candidate for the program. As the applicant and be either The nominator must have a national reputation in the same field.
- An Australian organisation
- An eligible Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Eligible New Zealand citizen
Representing the ICT sector in Australia. The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is the largest professional body. The Department of Home Affairs (DoHA) recognizes for Global Talent applicants the ACS as an eligible nominating Australian organisation . The ACS can provide nominations in the following target sectors for applicants:
- Cyber Security
- Fin Tech (candidates with a predominantly tech focus)
- Ag Tech (candidates with a predominantly tech focus)
- Quantum Information/Advanced Digital/Data Science/ICT
- Med Tech (candidates with a predominantly tech focus)
ACS Nomination:
To apply for an ACS nomination,a detailed CV/Resume email ACS attached and explaining to the Australian tech sector why you would be an asset. Further information may be requested by ACS and will advise whether ACS can proceed with a nomination. ACS will ask for a fee payment of $500 if suitable and the following information:
- Evidence of having been issued with a unique identifier from DoHA
- Evidence that demonstrates you will be an asset to the Australian community
- A color scan of your passport;
- Evidence that shows you are internationally recognized, and your achievements are exceptional and outstanding
- Evidence that shows that your contribution will be of benefit to Australia as a whole.

Application Process :
1) The applicant must with the Department of Home Affairs (DoHA) first lodge an expression of interest.
2) DoHA will issue you with a Unique Identifier, If you are successful.
3) Create an Immi Account on DoHA website.
4) Email ACS your expression to be nominated.
5) ACS will assess your application and request for documents
6) Submit documents and pay application fees
7) ACS will complete the nomination form
8) Submit your application with DoHA.
