Eligibility
To be invited to apply for a visa under the Global Talent Visa in Sydney, an applicant will be highly skilled in one of the 10 target sectors and able to entice a salary that meets the high-income verge.

How to apply
Step 1. Expression of interest
Submit an expression of interest using the Global Talent Expression of Interest form:
You can submit an expression of interest without contact from a Global Talent Officer.
The Expression of interest form and all supporting documentation must be submitted in English. You will need various documents to submit an EOI, and translations for all documents in other languages.
Required documentation includes:
- passport
- nomination details, such as a nominator passport
- Nomination for Global Talent Form
- evidence of:
- Employment status
- Income
- Qualifications internationally recognized record of outstanding and exceptional achievement in the sector.
Global Talent EOIs do not expire. If you have an expression of interest pending, do not submit another one.
If you meet the program parameters, you will obtain an invitation email. This will include a unique invitation reference identifier and an invite code. If your EOI is unsuccessful, we will inform you via email. Unsuccessful candidates may explore other visa options.
Step 2. Apply for a visa
After you obtain an invitation code and invitation reference identifier, lodge a Global Talent (subclass 858) visa application via IME Advisors.
Refer to this information for details about visa requirements, including character and health requirements. You can add immediate family members to your application at any time before a judgment is made. Family fellows who apply for the visa must meet health and character requirements.
Nominators
Your nominator must have a national standing in the same field as you. 'National reputation' refers to an opinion by the industry community or Australian public that the nominator is a leader, with a record of excellence in their field. They must also be an:
- Australian citizen
- eligible New Zealand citizen, or
- Australian organization.
- Australian permanent resident
You cannot modify your nominator once you have lodged a Global Talent Visa application.
Nominators do not have to employ you. Nominators give evidence of:
- their status in Sydney, Australia
- their national reputation in your field
- Your accomplishments and international standing on nomination for Global Talent Visa.
Impacts of COVID-19

People granted a visa under the Global Talent Visa Program do not require a travel exemption. All travellers arriving in Sydney, Australia must quarantine for 14 days at a designated facility. This may include a hotel in their port of arrival. See Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice for travellers.
We are attentive that due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, applicants in Sydney, Australia may have dependent family members outside Australia. Make sure that you state your circumstances when you make your application.
