You must be nominated by a State or Territory, such as the Government of Western Australia, in order to apply for a State-nominated skilled visa (WA). The permanent Skilled Nominated Visa (s/c 190) or the temporary Skilled Work Regional Visa (s/c 491) are both state-nominated skilled visas.
The number of applications for state nomination that WA has received in recent months has been astronomical. The Western Australian government has therefore made the decision to move up the dates of its invitation rounds, holding them during the first week of every month. This will provide the Department enough time to handle the enormous number of applications they have received. Beginning in March 2023, this new procedure will continue for the duration of the current programme year.
You are permitted to live and work anywhere in Australia with this permanent visa.
You must fulfil the following standards set forth by the Department of Home Affairs to be eligible:
- a talent assessment that is pertinent
- be younger than 45
a State or Territory, such as Western Australia, must make the nomination
be able to pass the Department of Home Affairs points test with 65 or more points. You receive an additional 5 points towards the Department of Home Affairs points test, which is automatically entered into your EOI, if you are nominated by the state for the subclass 190 visa;
possess the necessary level of English and having a job on the appropriate occupations list.
You must first submit an expression of interest (EOI) in the Department of Home Affairs SkillSelect database in order to be taken into consideration by Western Australia for State Nomination. A ranking mechanism is used by WA Migration Services to determine which qualified EOIs are invited to apply for Western Australian State nomination each month.

- the main current, and
- the stream of graduates.
