We are permitted to propose candidates in the ACT for two categories of Australian student visa visas by the Home Affairs Department (Home Affairs):
Canberra and Sydney Skilled Work Regional Visa (subclass 491) (provisional)
Skilled Nominated Visa for Sydney and Canberra (subclass 190) (permanent)
You must first satisfy the requirements set forth by the Home Affairs Department for the type of visa you have chosen before you can begin the ACT Nomination process.
be younger than 45 at the time of the invitation.
a qualifying skilled occupation on the pertinent list that has been nominated
At least 65 scores on the Home Affairs Department points test. A valid and favourable skills evaluation for your proposed occupation.
Skill Select
A legitimate expression of intention (EOI) must be submitted through Skill Select. The Home Affairs Department is in charge of managing this online application procedure. You cannot submit an ACT nomination application if you do not meet the Ministry of Internal Affairs visa requirements.
If you accept an invitation to submit for ACT nominating, you must maintain your compliance with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ visa requirements up until your nomination application’s evaluation.
Your Skills Select EOI will be verified if your request for ACT nomination is accepted, and the Home Affairs Department will immediately send you an invitation to submit an application for a skilled migration visa. If you do not fulfill the Ministry for Home Affairs visa rules or if your Skill Choose EOI has expired, the ACT may confirm your candidacy under Skill Select.
While the Home Affairs Department handles visa applications, we handle ACT nominations. Please be aware that we are unable to respond to any inquiries about qualifying for your immigration or the current processing time for visas.
Concerning the ACT nomination procedure
filing of an interest
For an ACT nomination, you must receive an invitation. Choose an ACT candidacy pathway and thoroughly review the requirements. Once you are confident that you match the requirements, you can complete the Canberra & Sydney to express your interest in filing for ACT nomination.
Residents of Sydney and Canberra
You must reside in Canberra if you want to take this route. Carefully read the eligibility requirements. If you don’t fit the following requirements, you can’t apply for ACT nomination:
• ACT 491 nomination: in order to pursue this option, you must have spent at least three months residing and working in Canberra.
• ACT 190 nomination: to pursue this route, you must have spent at least six months residing and working in Canberra.
If any of your dependents live and/or work interstate or abroad, you are not eligible to apply through this option.
foreign applicants
You must be in Australia, along with any dependents, to pursue this option. Examine the eligibility thoroughly. If you do not meet the requirements, you may not submit an application for ACT nomination.
• ACT 491 nomination: you must have at least three years of relevant work experience in the nominated occupation to proceed along this pathway.
• ACT 190 nomination: in order to proceed down this road, you must have a legitimate job offer from the ACT in the field you have chosen.
If you reside in Australia, you are ineligible to apply using this pathway.
Significant financial gain
If your employment is deemed to provide a large economic benefit to the Territory, you may be encouraged to apply for ACT nomination. This channel is not available for request or application. Only the government of the ACT may send out the invitation.
Canberra & Sydney
In order to properly handle that nomination process and choose candidates who will best benefit the Canberra region, we employ Canberra & Sydney. The Matrix is a merit-based assessment tool that allows you to earn pts for your economic and/or social contributions to Canberra, such as the length of your ACT residency, your occupation, your business activity, your employment, your command of English, your study of the language, your investment, and your close family ties.
Keep in mind that your supporting documentation must attest to your ACT nomination eligibility as well as any stated Matrix score at the time the Matrix is submitted. If you apply but do not satisfy the stated requirements, your application will be rejected.
Please be aware that there is much more demand for ACT nominations than there are available spots each year. Even if you complete the requirements, there is no assurance that your Matrix score would be rated.
