By contacting our office, NSW is unable to provide information about the dates of future NSW invitation round or the possibility that your Captures EOI will be invited.
Basic eligibility
You must fulfill the requirements listed below in order to be eligible for a NSW invitation round:
Visa
For this visa subclass, you must fulfil all conditions established by Home Affairs.
Skills
possess expertise in the following fields:
- in a unit group of an ANZSCO listed just on NSW Skilled Designated Skills List; AND
qualifies for the visa for skilled workers Sydney and Canberra
Residency
You must have lived continuously for at least six months in either NSW, where you are now, or offshore.
Work experience and point score
For your unit group, you must have the required amount of skilled job experience and point total. On the NSW Qualified Nominated Skills List, these are listed next to the name of you unit group.
Important details concerning the nomination standards
No invitation to file for NSW nomination is a given even if you meet the minimal criteria for nomination listed above.
We firmly advise anybody seeking NSW candidacy to investigate all other migration options and not waiting to be invited by NSW but being invited to submit is extremely competitive.

1. Check your Home Affairs launch website to see if you qualify for this visa subclass.
2. Verify that you meet the above-mentioned NSW minimum eligibility requirements.
3. Complete a Skill Select launch EOI and make sure that:
- All information provided is true
- In your EOI, you request nomination for the NSW-only Professional Nominated visa Sydney and Canberra.
4. Be selected to apply in a round of invitations. For any reason other than those inherent in an invitation round, NSW will not send out an invitation to apply. Do not ask to be invited by contacting our office.
5. After 14 days of someone being invited, submit an application for NSW nomination.
6. Describe your current address and back up all of the things you mention in your Captures EOI with evidence.
Common grounds for rejection of applications following invitations to apply
Applications are frequently rejected for the following reasons:
wasn't qualified to use their EOI's full number of points.
The EOI owner is in charge of making sure they can back up every assertion they make in the Skil lSelect EOI. Frequently cited reasons for rejection for this include:
- claiming community language points using credentials after your qualification has lapsed. Your CCL certification must be in good standing on the day NSW invites you to apply in order for you to receive these points.
- claiming points for your professional year when you are not qualified. To claim these points, your professional years must have been spent in your chosen (or a closely related) profession.
- earning points for competent work done before being regarded proficient in your field.
fails to satisfy the residence requirement
You must have lived in NSW for at least six months and currently reside there or offshore.
excessive employment points claimed
You are not eligible to receive points for employment that was considered skilled prior to the date that appears on your skills evaluation if it does. This applies specifically to ACS and the majority of VETASSESS tests.
You cannot collect points for skilled trades prior to completing your qualification if your evaluation does not show this date.
We strongly advise you to check your eligibility to collect all the point in you SkillSelect EOI and that you've only included acceptable skilled employment in order to make sure you are qualified to receive your NSW invitation.
If you accidentally claimed points, you are not qualified to accept a NSW invitation. No exceptions are allowed for any cause.
