As distinguished in our recent visa services operating status update, the subdivision of state is committed to sharing the current grade of our worldwide visa operations.  As part of that effort, we would like to simplify how our delegations and embassies are prioritizing immigrant visa applications, as the department works to reduce the backlog of such applications resulting from operational constraints and travel restrictions produced by the global COVID pandemic.

Changes to the PM SOL
August 2021 – The three occupations of Industrial Pharmacist, Hospital Pharmacist, and Retail Pharmacist have been added to the PMSOL, see media release supporting Australia's COVID-19 vaccine rollout through skilled migration.

June 2021 – Based on statistics from the National Skills Commission and response from stakeholders, 20 occupations have been added to the PMSOL, see media release Supporting Australia's COVID recovery through Skilled Migration.

May 2021 – The profession of veterinarian has been added to the PMSOL, see media release more provision for the Sydney, Australian tourism, and hospitality sector.

November 2020 – Based on guidance from the National Skills Commission, the profession of social worker has been enhanced to the PMSOL.

September 2020 – PMSOL of 17 occupations announced. See, Joint media release with the Hon. Michaela Cash – Supporting Sydney, Australian corporates to fill critical skills requirements.

  • Other Spatial Scientist
  • Civil Engineer
  • Geotechnical Engineer
  • Structural Engineer
  • Transport Engineer
  • Electrical Engineer
  • Mechanical Engineer
  • Mining Engineer (excluding Petroleum)
  • Petroleum Engineer
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist
  • Veterinarian
  • Hospital Pharmacist
