Visa application fee for main applicant is $650, for spouse or partner $325 and for children under eighteen years $165. It is important to highlight that there are two streams in the Skilled Graduate visa program, to understand the second graduate visa initiative:
• The Graduate Work stream
• The Post-Study Work stream
The Graduate Work stream including those from the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector is open to graduates with an eligible qualification, who graduate with qualifications and skills qualifications that relate to an occupation as indicated in the relevant occupation list that is considered in demand in the Australian labor market.
The Post-Study Work stream is open only to international students from Australian educational institutions who have recently graduated, with an eligible higher education degree regardless of their field of study or occupation.
Holders of Graduate visas in the Post-Study stream from 20 January 2021 will have the opportunity if they satisfy specific regional requirements to apply for a second Graduate visa in the same stream. The second Subclass 485 Graduate visa will be granted with a visa validity of one or two years in the Post-Study Work stream from the date of grant.
One Year visa:
Applicants who studied their Australian qualification anywhere other than the major cities (Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane) a one-year graduate visa will be granted and who, were outside those cities for at least two years while holding the first Graduate visa, immediately before applying for the second visa.
Holder lives only in a designated regional area will be a condition (and works or studies, if relevant) of the second visa which in practice means areas outside Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Who are granted a second Subclass 485 visa, this condition will also apply to all family members of the primary holder.
Two Years visa:
Applicants who studied their Australian qualification in a regional centre or other regional area a two-year graduate visa will be granted and who, lived (worked or studied) only in a regional centre or other regional area for at least two years while holding the first Graduate visa, immediately before applying for the second visa.
The holder lives only in a regional centre or other regional area will be a condition (and works or studies, if relevant) of the second visa. Who are granted a second Subclass 485 visa, this condition will also apply to all family members of the primary holder.
In both cases, on the second subclass 485 will require visa holders to remain in a regional area and the new visa condition imposed for the duration of their new visa.
Applicants may need to be familiar with the definition of “Designated Regional area”, when considering an application for a second graduate visa, which includes:
• Including Perth, the Gold Coast, Adelaide, the Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Newcastle/Lake Macquarie Geelong, Wollongong/ Illawarra and Hobart in Major regional centers or designated cities.
• Regional centers or other regional areas, excluding the areas mentioned above and the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane including all other areas of regional Australia
