The Department of Home Affairs has announced that for certain family visa subclasses (including the Prospective Marriage- sc300 and Partner visa -sc309) it will waive the requirement in early 2021 to be offshore at the time of their visa grant commencing. At the time the visa is granted Some categories of visa require applicants to be outside of Australia. Travel limitations and restrictions associated with COVID – 19 are affecting visa applicants – The Department is aware of that. , particularly applicants who have come to Australia for family visas.
It is intended that changes will be implemented in early 2021 that would allow certain family visas in early 2021 which have been applied for outside Australia, to be granted while the visa applicant is in Australia.This temporary concession will be for people who are in Australia and due to COVID-19 are not able to travel offshore to be granted the visa related border closures”
Who have been impacted by the COVID19 border/travel restrictionse concession is set to apply to certain applicants for the following visa subclasses:
- Adoption visa (subclass 102)
- Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300)
- Child (subclass 101) visa
- Dependent Child (subclass 445) visa
- Partner (subclass 309) visa
